In your explanation you mention using bender boards or rocks to line the path. In the verge I have a cement boarder created by the sidewalk and the curb length wise and cement driveways on each end. Would I still need bender boards or stones?Karennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4168201662932781326.post-42481227133217189322015-12-04T09:43:46.108-08:002015-12-04T09:43:46.108-08:00Curious... if I secure the bender boards down to t...Curious... if I secure the bender boards down to the ground with 6 inch stakes, wouldnt that mean the bottom of the bender board is ON the surface of the ground? How then am I suppose to "excavate the soil down to the bottom of the bender boards?" Secondly, wouldnt the next step be to lower the bender boards down since they'd be attached to stakes that are now only about 1 inch in the ground? Strange directions... I have a slight slope towards the house but will install a french drain. The way that we built the DG path seen in the photo below was to dig a shallow trench about 2 inches deep and about 4 inches wide. The rocks were then laid in the trench. Dirt was then packed around the rocks on the outside edge of the border, and the DG on the inside. Notice in the photo that there is no pattern to the rocks, some large, some small, none of them are perfectly lined up. This irregularity makes the path seem more natural.Doug Kalalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10443378378861007089noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4168201662932781326.post-61948831172188717682011-08-19T14:28:53.117-07:002011-08-19T14:28:53.117-07:00I am using rocks to border my path. Should I put a layer of sand in, set the stones, and then add the DG, or do I just dig a spot in the ground, put the stone in and pack dirt around? I am brand new to this stuff and doing it all myself. Thanks for any tips you can give me.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
