The Strawberry Tree actually does bear fruit (but it's yucky). However Birds love this tree not only for the food but the shelter it provides. The Strawberry Tree (Arbutus unedo or Arbutus marina) can reach 30 feet and 30 feet wide. It is also a drought tolerant tree that can tolerate sea breezes. Best in USDA zones 7-11, this tree will go deciduous in the colder zones. Here in San Diego the Strawberry Tree is a wonderful evergreen shade tree.
